Recovering our Community

Initially providing services as a program of the Mineral Wells Ministerial Alliance, Addiction Recovery Ministries (ARM) became an independent nonprofit organization in 2009. ARM, with its Life Recovery and GRACE programs, is a faith based organization committed to  assisting individuals recover their freedom from addiction, poverty and abuse, through faith-based 12-step recovery programs, individual counseling, and classes designed to aid individuals in learning to make better choices and restructure their lives. All ARM services are provided free of charge in an effort to make recovery accessible to everyone.

I started using marijuana around the age of 15. At first, it was only for fun. Then it slowly became an addiction. I felt like I couldn’t make it through the day without it. It wasn’t until recently that I quit. I knew it was something that had to be done. I had hit rock bottom and had lost everything, including my children. I was referred to ARM, and it turns out that I really enjoy it. It has helped me to open up and give my life to God, and also to see that I don’t need drugs to make me happy. It’s truly a good experience and every educational.

ARM works with agencies within Parker, Wise, and Palo Pinto Counties including the Palo Pinto County Community Support, Corrections Department, Child Protective Services, local churches, and civic organizations. In addition to providing classes and counseling services at organization headquarters in Mineral Wells, ARM has satellite programs in Lone Camp at the Fellowship Hope Center, Possum Kingdom, as well as Palo Pinto County Jail.

Using the 12-step model, the ARM Group Recovery Program encompasses a series of classes taught three times per week. Most clients complete the program in about six months. Since recovery from addiction requires coping skills and new behaviors, ARM also includes the Life Recovery Program, a life-skills curriculum which is held for six weeks and focuses on:

  • Positive Family Relationships
  • Parenting
  • Self-image
  • Anger Management
  • Money Management
  • Nutrition
